Lenamon: Year-round giving makes quick response possible
A hard freeze is hitting Texas this weekend, and TBM is stepping up to ensure some of the most vulnerable among us have a hot meal.
The TBM State Feeding Unit is set to provide 500 meals Saturday, 500 meals Sunday and another 1,000 meals Monday at Fair Park in Dallas, where TBM is working with a coalition of ministry partners to serve unhoused people in Jesus' name. If needed, the feeding unit is also prepared to provide meals next week.
TBM unloaded food Thursday in preparation to set up a kitchen Friday at TBM’s Dixon Building in East Dallas. Unit volunteers are scheduled to cook breakfast Saturday morning and then deliver the prepared food to Fair Park for distribution to the homeless.
TBM Executive Director/CEO Mickey Lenamon noted that ongoing, year-round giving to TBM ministries enables the organization to respond quickly to needs, such as the situation in Dallas.
“Because of our donors, the most vulnerable people in North Texas will hear the Gospel of Christ as they are cared for,” Lenamon said. “TBM volunteers will be living out Jesus' words in Matthew 25:40: ‘Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
Lenamon also noted the importance of prayer as the weekend approaches with the anticipated deadly cold weather.
“Please continue to pray for the TBM volunteers as they serve this weekend and for the people they will be serving.”
