TBM feeding and shower/laundry teams helped firefighters as they battled the Dempsey Fire near Mineral Wells.

Roughly 200 firefighters fought the blaze until they contained it July 3. In all, the fire burned more than 11,000 acres.

TBM volunteers woke up each morning at 4:00 a.m. to prepare and deliver breakfast to the firefighters by 6:30 a.m. Later in the day, TBM provided another meal. Each offering was specially prepared to meet the nutrition required to fuel the firefighters' long, exhausting hours. TBM volunteers also made cookies for each of the firefighters as way to let them know that Texans care for and appreciate them.

The TBM shower/laundry units provided a place of respite for the firefighters. There, they could take a refreshing shower, relax and have someone wash, dry and fold their laundry for free.

"It's been an incredibly hot summer, and firefighters are work hard for all of us," said TBM Executive Director/CEO Mickey Lenamon. "It's our honor to give them the food they need to have strength, a place to rest they deserve and encouragement and prayer to keep them going."
