Target Audience: TBM DR volunteers who have a calling from God to give emotional and spiritual support during a crisis. Current TBM Disaster Relief credentials are required.

This is a 16-hour training course with the chaplain coordinator. This is a deployment-like situation where participants are expected to bring sleeping gear and stay at the church. Each participant is required to read the chaplain manual before attending. Pre-registration online is required.

Maximum enrollment is 20 students.

Each participant must have a letter of recommendation from their pastor, as well as a reference letter from a Disaster Relief blue cap they have worked with. Email the letters before the event to howingtonmelanie@gmail.com.

Chaplain Training-Basic

A 16-hour (2-3 night stay) training course with the Chaplain Coordinator. Each participant is required to read the Chaplain Manual before attending. Pre-registration online is required.

Basic Chaplaincy is a role-playing and discussion format that will equip participants to give emotional and spiritual support to those who have encountered disasters. We focus on various aspects, including but not limited to stages of development, needs, recognizing signs of stress and trauma, things you do and do not do or say, cultural issues, types of disasters, storytelling, listening skills, etc. Come prepared to discuss and interact by reading your manual and answering the questions.
